Course content
Description
Genetic testing is becoming increasingly relevant and accessible across medical specialties. It can provide important information to help health care providers manage their patients’ care. As genetic testing becomes more available, it’s important for all health care providers to familiarize themselves with this powerful tool—including the types of tests, possible results, and where to find resources to support patients.
In this course, health care providers will learn about the types of genetic testing that are currently available, required laboratory certifications for clinical genetic testing, and the role of genetic counselors.
After completing the course, providers will be able to answer questions about how genetic testing can improve patient care, the benefits and risks of genetic testing for patients, and the types of services that genetic counselors provide.
